Admissions

While most new pupils start in September, we admit children to our school at any time of the year, as parents often move to Ibiza mid-year, provided we have places. Class sizes are held to a maximum of 25 students. Wherever possible we like to interview the children and for the children to visit the school before entering.

Eligibility

The school is a non-exclusive school. In principle, all students are eligible to enter the school. However the school management will always require reports from the students previous schools and, for example, children with severe behavioral problems may be assessed as unsuitable for admission to the school.
For pupils who do not speak English as a first language, support strategies have to be established which may include a commitment for extra tuition at home.
Students are initially admitted on a three-month probationary period.

Academic Year:

The year starts in early September and finishes in late June. There are holidays at Christmas and Easter, with half term breaks in each term.

Entry to the school is possible at any time during the school year, however the school is well subscribed and there is a waiting list in many year groups. Please contact the school office for enrolment information.

Fees

Morna International College is an independent fee paying school.

The fees charged cover all books, computer studies, language sessions, sports facilities. (Except 6 th form)

Exceptions to the general rule, may mean that parents are asked to contribute to school trips, extra curricular activities etc.. A copy of the fee charges are available from the school office.

Teaching Hours

School hours are from 08:55 –15:35. The children have eight 35 minute lessons per day.

We can only be responsible for students on the premises between 08:30 and 15:30.

Houses

Like Harry Potter, MIC has houses. The houses are Conejera (yellow), Tagomago (Green) and Es Palmador (Red) which are islands surrounding Ibiza .

Medical

Please telephone the school if:

•  If your child is absent for any reason.

•  If your child has an appointment at the hospital / doctor etc..

If your child is unwell at school parents are called and asked to collect their child.

If an accident occurs during school hours be it at school or out on a school trip, we have a private medical insurance whereby children can be sent to the private hospital in Ibiza town for treatment and follow up treatment if necessary. The exception is extreme sports such as skateboarding, ski-ing etc..

After any absence from school, the child must bring a letter from parent or guardian explaining the reasons for the student being absent.

If you are unsure whether a student is well enough to be in school for a full day, then be on the safe side and keep your students at home until fully recovered.

We also need a letter if you do not wish your child to participate in Sports.

Please make sure that emergency contact numbers are available to the school.

School Notice Board

We have a locked school notice board, which is situated in the car park. If you would like to put up a private advert please ask in the office for approval.
