IGCSE In Years 10 and 11
students are prepared for the international version of the GCSE
examinations (IGCSE). Students normally take nine subjects as
follows:
Core subjects: English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, Coordinated
Sciences
(double award) and Spanish.
Optional subjects:
Students choose three subjects from; Art and Design, Geography,
German,
History, Information Technology and Music.
‘A’ level and ‘AS’
In Years 12 and 13 students normally prepare for ‘AS’ and ‘A
level qualifications in four or five subjects.
The subjects normally available are: English, Spanish, German,
Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Applied Information
Technology, Media Studies, Music Technology, Art and Design,
History, Geography, and Thinking Skills.
The subject list can vary from one year to another, depending
on the actual demand.
University Entrance
The ‘AS and ‘A’ level qualifications are recognised for access
to university in most countries throughout the world. The school
is registered with UCAS and students are guided through
applications to British universities. They can also apply to
Spanish universities via the UNED in Spain. Students are able to
study in Germany with the appropriate combination of ‘A’ level
subjects and the ‘A’ levels enjoy excellent recognition in the
United States.
