Qualifications

Curriculum and Organisation

The programme of studies is closely based on the National Curriculum ( England and Wales ) and the principal language of instruction is English. Spanish language classes commence from the age of 4 and German language classes commence in the primary. The maximum class size is 25. The teaching staff of 28 is well-qualified, the majority being UK graduates.

Examinations and Qualifications

The school, a member of the National Association of British Schools in Spain , is recognised by the Spanish authorities and is a centre for the IGCSE -(International General Certificate of Education) of the University of Cambridge . By the age of 16 students will normally have achieved IGCSE passes in 9 subjects: English Language, English Literature, Spanish, German, Mathematics, 2 Sciences, Art and Design, History and Geography.

University Entrance Qualifications

While a considerable number of countries accept IGCSE for university entrance purposes, the A level, taken at 18, is regarded as one of the world's most rigorous and prestigious university entrance qualifications. A pass in two A Level subjects is the minimum for matriculation into a British University , though in practice courses such as Medicine, require A grades in three subjects. The school can supply specialist advice on the choice of school courses, university courses and careers.

University of Cambridge General Certificate of Education Advanced Level course are currently offered in Spanish and German. In addition, students can study up to 4 ‘AS' levels in Year 12 (each subject at AS level represents half an ‘A' level credit). Subjects currently offered at AS level are Mathematics, Biology, History, Business Studies and English.
